Alcogal is pleased to announce the designation of Mr. Jaime Castillo and Mr. Eduardo Gómez as new partners of the firm.

Mr. Jaime Castillo holds a Bachelor of Law and Political Sciences from Universidad de Panamá (1999, Sigma Lambda) and a Master of Business Administration (MBA) from the University of Louisville, Panama City, Republic of Panama (2005). He has been part of the Alcogal team since 2004, focusing on energy and natural resources, antitrust, telecommunications, and mining.

Mr. Eduardo Gómez has been part of the Alcogal team since 2002 and has a Bachelor of Law and Political Sciences from Universidad de Panamá (2005). He specializes in the areas of litigation and arbitration, energy and natural resources, and telecommunications.

Alcogal participated as a sponsor of the ICC Conference of the International Court of Arbitration in Panama, which took place from January 29 to 30 at the Miramar Intercontinental Hotel. This 4th edition "How to achieve effectiveness in arbitration?: Sharing the experiences of the ICC", included as part of the panel,  Jorge Federico Lee, Member of the ICC Court and partner of the firm. By participating in this panel Alcogal confirms its leadership position in this field.

Alcogal advised Alternegy, S.A., in connection with the issuance of its first debt offer and the registration with the Superintendence of Capital Markets, of the corporate bonds being issued by Banco General, S.A. and Banistmo, S.A. This is one of the year’s largest bond issuances for a corporate issuer in the Panamanian capital market. The issuance consisted of both local and international guarantees, the latter specifically consisting of assets located in the Republic of Costa Rica.

The transaction closed in December 2017.
