Alcogal advised creditor banks in Soho Mall Trust

The Banking, Finance and Capital Markets team at Alemán, Cordero, Galindo & Lee recently acted as counsel to the lender banks, which included Banistmo, Banesco, St. George's Bank, Caja de Ahorros, Bladex, Credicorp Bank, Banco Aliado and Bancolombia, in relation to the Soho Trust, for USD$400 million, wherein the banks, as lenders to the settlors, were beneficiaries.

The Corporate and M&A team at Alemán, Cordero, Galindo & Lee, along with the Banking, Finance and Capital Markets team, advised Citigroup in the acquisition by Scotiabank of the banking and commercial operations of Citigroup’s 27 branches in Panama and Costa Rica. Through this acquisition, Scotiabank’s total number of clients in these two countries increased to nearly 400,000.

Alcogal participates in STEP’s Latin American Conference in Sao Paulo

In October 2015, Alcogal participated as one of the main sponsors of the Latin American conference organized by STEP (Society of Trust and Estate Practitioners) that was held in Sao Paulo, Brazil. More than 300 professionals from the region, all specialists in trusts and estate planning, attended the conference titled "Where the common law and civil law converge: the crossroads of the future." Alcogal partner Raul Zuniga from Panama and associates Jacqueline Schwartz from Uruguay and Santiago Isbert from Argentina attended the conference.
